Artist Biography
Ian Shortall is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter and country music artist whose heartfelt, timeless songs have earned the attention of Nashville’s biggest names.
With a warm, authentic voice and a gift for honest, relatable storytelling, Ian writes classic country music that bridges traditional roots with contemporary heart. His songs speak of love, loss, small-town life, backroad wisdom, and the everyday struggles and triumphs that define the human experience.
In addition to his solo artist career, Ian has become a respected Nashville songwriter, with multiple songs receiving “Keeps” from established and rising country artists. Recent activity includes cuts and holds with Parmalee, Cadillac Three, Tracy Lawrence, Tyler Braden, Devin Dawson, Cole Goodwin, Carter Faith, Lanie Garner, Conner Smith, and others. His songs have been pitched to major-label artists such as Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce, and Kelleigh Bannen, among many more.
Whether performing stripped-back acoustic sets or full-band arrangements featuring pedal steel and rich harmonies, Ian delivers the kind of real, soulful country music that feels both fresh and deeply rooted in tradition. Influences range from the legends — Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Townes Van Zandt — to modern voices like Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapleton.
Now based in Victoria, Ian continues to write and record from the heart, splitting his time between creating music for himself and for the Nashville industry. His upcoming release on June 19, 2026 marks a powerful new chapter in his journey as both an artist and a songwriter.
Authentic. Honest. Unapologetically country.
